Time to Play

dsc03808Time to Play was a research project funded by Government in 2009 to explore intercultural approaches to play. This research programme was based in Oxford PEEP with lead researchers Susan Young and Alison Street. The findings of the project are being disseminated at conferences worldwide.

Visible Thinking worked closely with practitioners and mothers from a variety of cultural backgrounds at a Bristol Early Years Centre. Sahra Ibrahim supported this project as lead translator and storyteller, exploring traditional stories from Somalia alongside the non-verbal approach. The project highlighted key questions, with reflections homing in on ‘the presence of language’ and ‘how identities are formed’.

Following this research the mothers group have continued with their weekly meetings and Visible Thinking acts as mentor to the groups development.
